Bombay Bicycle Club - Flaws Album Review

Bombay Bicycle Club's latest album 'Flaws'  is a slightly different pace of music compared to their previous tracks. Prior to the recording and producing the band boldly unplugged their guitars and piano's and portrayed their deeper, acoustic side of their music.

produced by island records the 11 track album was released on 9th of July 2010,  in the formatting of CD and Digital Download.

The acoustic, hypnotic, folk vibe is believed to be inspired by Harry Smiths 'Anthology of American Folk Music' written and composed in 1920, and was written entirely by Jack Steadman (Lead Singer of Bombay Bicycle Club). Excluding the two covers of John Martyn’s ‘Fairytale Lullaby’ and the re-working of Joanna Newsom’s ‘Swansea’. This is very impressive for a person of such young age to write nine songs and re-working before your first driving lesson.

Their are many positive and negative elements that come with the album. The soft, shivering voice of Jack accompanied by the effortless acoustic finger picking in the track "leaving blues" makes jack sound sad and venerable. This track is a favourite for many for this simple addition.

'Flaws' is a masterpiece of simplicity and overemotional vulnerability. This album has shown many how mature and capable Bombay Bicycle Club can be as their old music has been very upbeat and meaningless. Flaws shows that the band can and are more than groovy background music and catchy lyrics, that the band Bombay bicycle club can and are more meaningful then what sees the eye.
